Beneath the joyful energy is intentional teaching. Rhythm, tempo, dynamics, pitch, timbre, and musical form—including ABA—become things children can hear and explore with their whole bodies.
A familiar hello welcomes the group. Movement, games, and imagination build the experience. A return to calm leads into the familiar goodbye song. Approximately 45 minutes with a beginning, an arc, and a meaningful close.
Why I built Melodic Motion
I wanted to build my dream.
I taught middle school and coached dance. After becoming a stay-at-home mom, I wanted something creative and flexible that felt like my own.
I imagined children’s music classes with more energy, more imagination, and more opportunities for parents and children to connect. Building that experience meant bringing the music, lessons, and teaching materials together.
That became Melodic Motion. My hope is to give you a practical place to begin building a program that reflects your personality and your community.

Beyond the nursery-song playlist.
There is a place for familiar favorites like “The Wheels on the Bus.” Melodic Motion goes beyond a playlist of those staples with a distinctive library of custom-developed, lesson-specific songs. Nursery-rhyme-style children’s songs and gentle lullabies sit alongside a wider world of musical styles, all shaped around the concepts, movement, and imagination in each lesson.

A driving rock beat. A country feel. Hip-hop rhythms. Dance-pop energy. The sweep of classical and cinematic sounds. Playful nursery-rhyme-style songs invite children to join in, while gentle lullabies support quieter moments and the return to calm. Alongside tempo, rhythm, dynamics, and musical form, children encounter different styles of music and discover how each can sound and feel.
Song form becomes something to notice and move to: in ABA, an opening section gives way to a contrasting section before the opening idea returns. Listening games and movement help children recognize that pattern.

The adults in the room hear these songs again and again. We want that to be a pleasure. Engaging rhythms, varied arrangements, and memorable melodies are part of the experience—for instructors, classroom staff, and parents as well as children.

Kelly taught middle school and coached dance before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Those experiences inform how she organizes lessons, explains movement, and thinks about participation and connection.
As Melodic Motion’s founder, she shapes the class experience: how to welcome a group, invite children and grown-ups to participate, guide the energy, and bring the lesson to a thoughtful close.

Musician · Attorney · Business owner
Greg majored in music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plays bass in Doctor Junior. He has helped Kelly develop the curriculum and music, bringing musical knowledge and hands-on production experience to the project.
As an attorney and local business owner, he also contributes to the practical business-planning resources—helping identify the questions independent instructors need to consider as they get started.

This is a curriculum you can use to build your own independent business. Your name on the door. Your personality in the room. Your decisions about pricing, schedule, venues, marketing, and how you want to grow.
Start with a class that fits your life or add something new to a business you already run. Melodic Motion provides the educational foundation; the business you build belongs to you. The program-use requirements below still apply.
Live, in-person classes
The instructor program is designed for shared experiences in the room, not virtual classes or recordings for replay or resale.
A grown-up participates
A parent, guardian, or responsible adult stays with each child throughout class. Connection is part of the curriculum; this is not a drop-off program.
Your own business setup
Arrange general liability insurance before teaching. Equipment, venues, local requirements, and other operating costs remain your responsibility. Curriculum materials are for their permitted uses, not public redistribution or resale.

Do your own class math.
Explore what different class sizes, prices, and schedules would mean on paper. Start with your own assumptions, then adjust them as you research your community.
For a starting exercise, try prices between $15 and $35 per student per class. This is an illustrative planning range, not a verified market average or a claim about what families will pay. You set your prices based on your local research, offering, and costs.

Include app membership, venue hire, insurance, equipment, marketing, payment fees, and other costs in your annual expenses. Allow for empty places, cancellations, and time off. The student figure is attendance per class, not your total unique roster; repeated classes do not necessarily mean additional roster places. This simplified calculation assumes the same class size and price across your schedule.
This tool performs arithmetic using only the figures you enter. Its output is not an estimate, forecast, promise, or representation of actual, average, expected, or typical results. Gross revenue is not profit. Actual results depend on demand, enrollment, attendance, pricing, cancellations, refunds, expenses, taxes, and many other factors.

Do I need to be a musician or dancer?
You do not need to compose music, play an instrument, or teach technical dance. The recorded music, guides, and instructional videos help you prepare. Warmth, preparation, and a willingness to participate matter.
Does the $24.99 kit start a subscription?
No. It is a separate one-time purchase of the preparation PDFs and one complete downloadable lesson. App membership is a separate decision when you’re ready.
Where could I teach, and how would I find clients?
The preparation PDFs explore a range of possibilities, including venue opportunities many new class providers may overlook, along with ideas for reaching families and presenting your own program professionally.
How are students counted?
Each enrolled student takes one place on your roster. Choose a tier for up to 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40 students. Contact us for more than 40. Downloads themselves do not determine your tier.
When do families receive the parent guide?
Share the guide before class so families know what to expect and how to prepare. Included family app access provides the guides, lesson music, karaoke-style videos, and activities so they can prepare and continue learning together at home.
Is curriculum the only cost of starting?
No. Equipment, venues, insurance, registration, marketing, and other local expenses are separate. The PDFs provide general planning ideas, not individualized professional advice. Purchasing materials does not guarantee enrollment or income.
