Christine Heaps, MT-BC

Christine Heaps MT-BCBorn and raised in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Christine began studying piano at the age of nine. Her teachers include Betty Corwin, Beth Spena, and Kathleen Keck. After graduating high school, she continued her piano study under Dr. Rosilee Walker-Russell at University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. She received her Associate of Arts degree and then continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) where she completed her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree. At SWOSU, she continued studying piano under Dr. James Breckenridge. In August 2005, after completing her six month internship at Colorado Lutheran Home in Arvada and graduating Cum Laude, Christine moved to Arizona, became a board certified music therapist, and began providing music therapy to children with special needs.

Christine has also provided music therapy to young adults with developmental disabilities as well as senior adults with Dementia. She specializes in teaching beginning piano students and students with special needs but enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities.

Christine is a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association (ECMMA). She enjoys learning from colleagues and regularly participates in continuing education opportunities.
In addition to spending time with her husband, Josh, Christine loves reading, cooking/baking, running, and dancing.
